Until year 1952 bus transport was operated nationally by one organisation controlled by Headquarters of ČSAD with seat in Prague with subordinated regional Headquarters in Bratislava for ČSAD in the territory of Slovakia. The supreme body of automobile transport was the Ministry of Transport in Prague.

In year 1953 was established the regional enterprise ČSAD Košice, methodologically governed by competent Regional National Committee (KNV) and Committee of Transport. In year 1957 after cancellation of the Main Committees, the Central Committee was established at the Ministry of Transport, which methodologically controlled the road automobile transport. Direct control was assured by competent Regional national committees. In year 1960 were established national enterprises of ČSAD with seats in every district. The central planning and financing of ČSAD by central bodies were cancelled and ČSAD became an independent economical subject governed by competent District national committee. The national enterprise ČSAD Košice was formed by fusion of all district enterprises in the territory of former regions Košice and Prešov.

As a consequence of division of the Czecho-Slovak Federative Republic in year 1993, the competences and control of ČSAD were transferred from the Ministry of Transport in Prague to the Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunication in Bratislava and by 1.9.1993 the name ČSAD was changed to SAD, š.p. (Slovak bus transport, state owned company) and by 1.7.1993 personal transport was organisationally, economically and financially detached from all other activities.

Based on the decision of the Minister of Transport of the Slovak Republic, enterprises SAD Košice, š.p. and NAD Košice, š.p. ceased to exist by 30.6.1995 and on the day of 1.7.1995 the former branches of personal transport were transformed into independent state enterprises. In year 1995 was established the state enterprise Slovenská autobusová doprava Košická dopravná spoločnosť Košice (Slovak Bus Transport, Košice Transport Company, Košice), and later in year 1999 were established branches in Rozňava and Spišská Nová Ves. In year 2001, based on the decision of the Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunication was terminated the state enterprise without liquidation with transfer of all property, rights, duties and obligations to Fond národného majetku (State Property Fund), which incorporated it into stock company SAD-Košická dopravná spoločnosť, a.s. (SAD-Košice Transport Company, a.s.) in connection with the decision on privatisation of the enterprise.

On the day of 16th Apríl 2007 the commercial name of the company was changed to eurobus, a.s.
